PUT IT ON! Part 3

Put it on!     Part Three

Ephesians 6: 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

Put it On. Part three

2 Corinthians 10: 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.

4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,

5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Ephesians 6:13

Ephesians 6:13 NKJV. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Put on the “whole”, “full,” “complete”, “every piece”.

The whole armor – 1. Truth, .2 Righteousness, 3. Peace, 4. Faith, 5. Salvation, 6. Holy Spirit, 7. Word.

“Able to withstand” - 436 /anthístēmi anth-is'-tay-mee ("oppose fully") means to forcefully declare one's personal conviction (where they unswervingly stand); to keep one's possessionardently withstand, without giving up (letting go).

  1. Endure – To bear up – to persevere – to withstand.

2 Timothy 2:3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.

5 And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.

Matthew 10:22 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.

  • Hamas, Al-Qaeda – We are the infidels from the West – THEY HATE US!

  • Paul, describing love - 1 Corinthians 13:7 - bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

  • To learn it takes patience.

2 Timothy 4: 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;

4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

  • Endurance takes time!

Hebrews 6: 13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself,

14 saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.”

15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

  • Jesus was our ultimate example.

Hebrews 12: 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

and having done all, to stand”

October 30, 1974, 20th of May Stadium (now the Stade Tata Raphaël) in KinshasaZaire (now Democratic Republic of the Congo), between undefeated and undisputed heavyweight champion  George Foreman vs. Muhammad Ali, billed as The Rumble in the Jungle

The fight was attended by 60,000 people and watched on television by as many as one billion worldwide. Though Foreman entered the bout as the clear favorite, Ali won by knockout in the eighth round and reclaimed the world heavyweight title.

Ali had told his trainer, Angelo Dundee, and his fans that he had a secret plan for Foreman. As the second round commenced, Ali began to lean on the ropes and cover up, letting Foreman punch him on the arms and body.

Ali said, “I knew I’d have to take some punches, ware him down, then take him out”

Some of you, have forgotten, This isn’t a 3 round fight.  It’s a 15 round match.  And it’s not over!

 According to Foreman: "I thought he was just one more knockout victim until, about the seventh round, I hit him hard to the jaw and he held me and whispered in my ear: 'That all you got, George?' I realized that this ain't what I thought it was."

How about someone standing on your feet, lifting your hands straight up to God, and say, devil, you thought you had me, you thought you had put me on the ropes.

  • I may be bloody
  • I may be bleeding
  • My knees may be weak
  • But greater is HE that is within me, than he that is in the WORLD!

Ephesians 6:13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
